Mr . Surendra Varma , Research Scientist , Asian Nature Conservation Foundation( ANCF )  , was invited to give a  lecture at the department of Zoology and Wildlife Biology, Government Arts College, Ooty on 21 – 1 – 2012.. The function was presided over by Dr. J. Ebanasar, HOD of Zoology and Wildlife Biology. Dr.R. Sanil Associate Professor, welcomed the gathering and Dr. H. Mohanakrishnan expressed the vote of thanks.

 The talk was about the biology, behaviour and management of the elephants. Mr. Varma  gave a good idea to the students about the captive elephant management and also the reasons leading to human elephant conflicts. The lecture was an eye opening one to the students of Wildlife Biology. 

 Students raised many clarifications regarding the life cyle and management of elephants. At the end of the seminar Mr. Verma found some time to interact with the students in designing and implementing the research projects. Students came up with doubts and Verma patiently expressed his view. 

After the seminar he separately interacted with the Ph. D Scholars and helped in correcting the doubts and setting proper objectives. The talk was an eye opening one to students, scholars and staff of the department.
