MIKE Sub regional Steering Committee meeting.
The Monitoring the Illegal Killing of Elephants (MIKE) is a Programme for elephant range states programme authorised by a resolution of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) at the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES (CoP10, Harare , 1997).
Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation Study Tour - 22 Aug. – 1 Sept. 2012
At the request of the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation the Asian Nature Conservation Foundation organized a study tour of south India for training wildlife staff at the level of Deputy Rangers in wildlife conservation and protected area management. The programme attempted to present the Indian experience in protected area management through classroom presentations and field visits.
Filming ANCF’s Work on Human Elephant Conflict Mitigation in the southern Western Ghats
In the month of September 2011 the Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF) welcomed a film crew from the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium. The Antwerp Zoo has been supporting our Land of the Elephant Programme, especially the planning and implementation of the Brahmagiri-Tirunelli Elephant Corridor project.
Book Launch
The Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF) in association with Strand Book Stall, Bangalore, and Alliance Francaise, Bangalore, organised the launch of the book ‘The Story of Asia’s Elephants’ authored by Dr. Raman Sukumar and published by Marg.
The event was held at the Alliance Francaise, Bangalore, on Friday, 10 February , 2011, from 6.00 pm. Mr. Girish Karnad, eminent playwright and theatre personality, was the Chief Guest.
Workshop on GIS applications
At the request of the Karnataka State Forest Department, the Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF), conducted a GIS applications training workshop at Mysore .The objective of the workshop was to provide spatial awareness skills for field based forest officials of the department.

Forest Fire Mapping and Modelling in the Sathyamangalam landscape
In February 2012, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department invited the Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF) to participate in, and guide a study on forest fire mapping and modelling in the Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
