ANCF collaborates with other animal welfare groups to formulate policies that ensure improved welfare standards for captive elephants in India. In association with Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA), a Bangalore-based organization concerned with animal welfare, the foundation has compiled an all-India database of captive elephants in temples, circuses, forest department camps and zoos, as well as their managers and owners. The database includes profiles of each individual captive elephant, its living conditions, healthcare, diet, and management practices followed by its handler. Surveys have also been conducted to study the status of elephant keepers, their healthcare, insurance, experience, social status, among others.
