Conservation of Asian Elephant through mitigation of human – elephant conflict in Bannerghetta National Park
ANCF provided technical support to this research project initiated by A Rocha India, with the Karnataka Forest Department as the main collaborator. The Project was funded by US Fish & Wildlife Service. Studies were conducted on the status of human – elephant conflict, status of elephants in terms of its demography and distribution and the utilisation of its habitat. The existing elephant barriers were studied and monitored to strengthen their purpose. Alternate elephant barriers were tested and introduced to the local people who are now using them successfully.
